Although Aruba has a free market economy, the Government regulates certain sectors within the Aruban economy such as renting and letting. By means of the renting committee, the Government tries to regulate to a large extent the conditions (lease, rent, physical condition of the house or apartment, etc.) under which the rent takes place. huurcommissie aruba
Huurcommissie Aruba (The rental commission) is an independent commission set up by the Government that settles disputes between tenants and landlords. The renting committee has been in existence since 1939, but the Government did not set up the Rental and Consumer Affairs Office until 1996 to provide administrative support to the tenancy committee.
